First solo beach trip

First Beach Trip since the Community Quarantine

It's been seven months since the last time I've gone to the beach (thank you, community quarantine!) and I'm so happy because yesterday, I was finally able to go. Last Tuesday, when I knew that Mactan Newtown Beach has reopened and realized that yesterday was actually a holiday, I immediately messaged them on Facebook to inquire on how to go about the "new normal" day tour at the beach. As expected, reservations are required as they don't allow walk-in guests for now to limit the number of people coming to the resort. It was also a pleasure to be accommodated by them so fast that I couldn't sleep because of the excitement. Haha.

I arrived at Mactan Newtown Beach around 10:30AM, quickly paid the entrance fee of Php 150 at the cashier by the entrance gate, and went in. There were only a few people when I arrived. I didn't rent a cottage or a table because I brought a beach towel with me. I inquired about this, by the way, and was told that it's okay. I was lucky I found a good spot at the beachfront. I settled in my spot and it took me a good 30 minutes of just staring at the beach before I finally decided to dive in.

The water was cold. It was perfect because it was a scorching hot day. It felt so good to finally be back at the beach. It felt so good to just lay in the water and not think about anything—not give a damn about anything. It was so calm and peaceful. Yes, I was alone at the beach. It was my first time, actually. It's one of the things that I have always wanted to do and finally, I have done it. I'm even thinking of doing this again and again and again. Sort of my "me time". No, not sort of. Exactly my "me time". Because like my tagline, every mama deserves a day off, right?

But being alone has its disadvantages too, you know? I had no one to take my photos. HAHAHA! I brought my tripod with me but I just took more selfies. Such a crazy woman. Lol. But really, I initially planned to take a lot of photos but when I was there, I didn't even think about it. I only got to take two or three photos using the tripod and that's it. I was so immersed in the feeling of being alone at the beach that taking a lot of Instagrammable photos left my mind. If there's one thing I learned in the past few months, it's taking less "perfect" photos and living in the moment more. It's not so hard, actually. :)
