Bangkok Day 1: Mall hopping & shopping

Bangkok Itinerary Day 1: Mall Hopping & Shopping
I only had four full days to explore Bangkok and I set my first day for mall hopping and shopping for souvenirs. Yes, I planned it this way so that I can organize the souvenirs in my luggage ahead of time to avoid any problems in my last day. Is it just me or are you like this, too? Haha.

I left the hotel around 8 in the morning and I'm glad that the bus stop was just a three-minute walk away from my hotel. I waited for my bus and it wasn't long until it arrived. I hopped on the bus and the bus conductor immediately gave me a ticket and asked where I was going. I told her my destination and paid 20 Baht. The traffic situation in Bangkok is somehow the same here in Cebu so I wasn't bothered. Also, I wanted it to be a "chill" trip and didn't want to follow a strict schedule so I can enjoy everything. After almost an hour, I checked Google Maps and panicked because it seemed that I was already way past my bus stop. So, I went on until the next stop and immediately got off the bust.

My first destination was supposed to be MBK Center. I checked Google Maps again, and it turns out, I actually didn't reach my destination yet. LOL. I was walking, laughing, and talking to myself for how I already got the first part of this trip wrong. I kept walking until I saw several malls just across each other. I saw The Market Bangkok, Big C, and centralwOrld. I thought to myself, "I may have gotten off the wrong bus stop but it actually led me to a better destination." Touché.

And yes, my friends, that's the story of how I accidentally came to centralwOrld.

I spent the first half of my day exploring centralwOrld, The Market Bangkok, Big C, and The Platinum Fashion Mall. I appreciate how these malls were connected with a skywalk, making it very easy for people to go around. I bought the famous Poy Sian inhalers and other herbal balms and liniments at Big C and some at The Platinum Fashion Mall. I had so much fun exploring The Platinum Fashion Mall because there were loads of stuff that you can buy there. And of course, I ended up buying a couple of clothes.

I took a quick break at the bazaar in front of centralwOrld and had (finally!) the authentic mango sticky rice! I paired it with a fresh mango shake because it was such a hot afternoon. After, I headed to Siam Square. I really love how these places were just a stone's throw away. I got to enjoy every minute I was walking and the exciting feeling whenever I finally get to my destination.

Siam Center

I actually visited the Gentlewoman Flagship Store in Siam Square and I walked away without buying anything. I realized it was too expensive for a canvas bag with just its huge, flashy branding. And almost all of the tourists that I saw were all using a Gentlewoman bag, so, yeah. Haha.

Well, enough of this chatter and if you reached this part and actually read everything that I wrote then, thank you. It's just that it's been two months since this trip happened and while I was writing this post, all the memories rushed through and it felt like I was really sharing these stories to someone. Haha. I still have the rest of the trip to write about, so, toodles!
