I met up with Dee of DEE Explores one weekend for a cup of coffee. It was the first time we saw each other again since the community quarantine. We were talking about stuff here and there when she suddenly popped the question. "Where are you headed to next?" I said I have to run a few errands then head home. She spontaneously asked me to go with her to a food joint and I said yes without thinking twice. A few hours later, we were off to Don John's.
Don John's is located at the YelloCube Food Hub in Lahug. To be honest, I haven't heard about Don John's if it wasn't for Dee. Dee asked one of the staff for a recommendation and he blurted out, "the Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich, ma'am..." So we ordered two mild Nashville chicken sandwiches. A few minutes later, our orders were ready.
We took the sandwiches out of the bag and they smelled so good. But of course, we had to take photos of it and with it for the 'gram before devouring it. Lol. The chicken sandwich was just the right size and for me, it can be counted as one meal. Price-wise, it's expensive because it's Php199 for the sandwich alone. We honestly thought sides were included. Tsk. We should've read the menu. The chicken itself was very tender, juicy, and had a smoky and Cheetos-ish flavor. The special coleslaw was not really special and there should've been more blue cheese sauce for the humongous chicken.
But overall, the Nashville Chicken Sandwich was good. Is it worth it? Honestly, no, if you're really hungry. You can spend your Php199 somewhere else more filling. But I will not not recommend this though. Go ahead and try it yourself if you're curious. Will I go back? Maybe. I'll try the other sandwiches and their chicken wings if I'm willing to spend extra.
