Travel Diary: Exploring Manila

I have long been planning to take Zayn to a trip to Manila and it was only last May that it finally came true. It wasn't Zayn's first out-of-Cebu trip but it was Zayn's first time to ride on an airplane. He was very excited and and I was very excited for him, too. I didn't plan a hectic itinerary for this trip since all I wanted was for Zayn to enjoy his first trip to Manila. My parents and my cousin came with us as well so it was a really fun vacation. We were in Manila for three days and visited four places which I will be sharing below.

Day 1: Divisoria Mall and Venice Grand Canal Mall
We arrived in Manila around 5AM and went straight to our hotel to check in our luggage first and wait for my cousin since she took a different flight. She arrived at around 8AM, checked in her luggage as well, and hailed a taxi to take us to our first destination: Divisoria Mall. The taxi driver asked us if we'd like to visit the old Divisoria Mall or the new one. We didn't know there was an old one and a new one so we just asked the driver to take us to the one that's nearest. So off we went to the new Divisoria Mall. We were able to score a lot of cheap yet really nice items and I wish I had loads of money to buy more. Haha. My cousin and I bought a really cute heart-shaped bag for only Php 150! It was such a good steal!

After lunch, we went back to our hotel and rested before going to our second destination: Venice Grand Canal Mall. It was around 4PM when we left our hotel and we took a Grab Car this time. The travel time took around 2 hours and it was worth it. Venice Grand Canal Mall is indeed a beautiful place like what I've seen in the photos. We wanted to ride the Gondola but my goodness, Php 400 for one person was too damn expensive. Haha. So we enjoyed the view, roamed around, and had dinner before going back to our hotel. And that was our first day in Manila.

Day 2: SM Mall of Asia and SM by the Bay Amusement Park
12NN and we checked out of our hotel and took another Grab Car to take us to SM Mall of Asia to have lunch. We roamed around the huge mall, window shopped, sat down for a quick coffee and milk tea fix, bought food supplies for our second night, and checked in at the condo unit I booked via Airbnb which was actually very near SM Mall of Asia. Around 4:30PM, we headed to our third agenda: SM by the Bay Amusement Park.

I booked our tickets ahead through the Metrodeal app which really saved us a lot. We went to the registration booth and the staff gave us each our park wristbands. The staff also gave us a list of the available rides we can ride for unlimited times and rides we can only go on only once. If we wanted to ride those that weren't in the list, then we'd have to purchase a separate ticket at the ticket booths around the park. The amusement park was jam-packed but that did not stop us from enjoying all the rides that were available for us. Zayn was the happiest and that was my goal. We even went back to the rides he loved the most. And at the end of the day, we adults, went dizzy with all the rotating rides we went on. Haha. Signs of aging. We walked back to SM Mall of Asia, had dinner, and rode a taxi back to our condo. That was our second day in Manila.

Day 3: Manila Ocean Park
Last day in Manila, we checked out early and headed straight to our fourth and last destination: Manila Ocean Park. We bought passes at the entrance and headed straight to the Oceanarium to leave our luggage. This was the most tiring day for us because we walked for hours and to be honest, it was only the Oceanarium that was worth it to see. The rest of the attractions was just meh. But at least Zayn was still able to enjoy the ocean park which has always been my main goal. Around 3PM, we booked a Grab Car to take us to the airport. And that was our last day in Manila. We will surely go back but not anytime soon.
