Skincare test: Althea Korea's A’bloom line

First Impressions on Althea Korea's A’bloom Line

We all know that Althea Korea started out as an online shop for all things K-beauty. But then they started launching skincare and makeup products under their own brand that seem to be doing so well and are highly competitive with the other popular Korean brands. Just recently, they launched another in-house brand which they claim to bring an explosion of fun to your beauty routine. And as part of the Althea Angels Community, I was given the chance to be one of the first to try the products under this newest in-house brand: A'Bloom. Currently, there are three products under A'Bloom and I will be sharing to you what these products have to offer.

Meringue Puffs
Let's start with these cute Meringue Puffs. These puffs come in two sizes: Giant, which is ideal for covering large areas of the face, and Baby which is actually a set of 3 to be used to get into the nooks and crannies of the face.

What it claims:
  • Expands to 1.5x larger for fast and even coverage
  • Blends effortlessly for a flawless finish
  • Works wet (for glossy moisturizing finish) or dry (for a perfectly matte finish) for different effects
  • Safe for sensitive skin
  • Suitable for makeup beginners

My thoughts:
I have always been the brush kind of girl so it was actually my first time to use a puff to blend in my foundation. These Meringue Puffs are so soft, fluffy, and spongy. What I do is I apply small dots of liquid foundation all over my face then I spray on my facial mist to the puff to wet it. Then I gently dab the puff to my face until my foundation is evenly blended. I have to say that it provided better results than my usual foundation brush.

A'Bloom Sheet Masks
Next on the A'Bloom line are the sheet masks. They currently have four different formulas to target different skin concerns and needs: Moisturizing Watermelon Mask Sheet, Nourishing Avocado Mask Sheet, Anti-Blemish Peach Mask Sheet, and Brightening Lemon Lime Mask Sheet.

What it claims:
  • Water-Me-Long Moisturizing Watermelon Mask Sheet: Infused with trehalose, lavender, and watermelon extracts, this sheet mask prevents dry flakes from forming, and soothes redness by cooling down the skin.
  • Avo-Cuddle-Me Nourishing Avocado Mask Sheet: This nourishing formula is rich in antioxidants from avocados and hibiscus flowers to give the skin some anti-aging goodness, preventing signs of aging and fine lines from appearing.
  • Ac-Me-Peach Anti-Blemish Peach Mask Sheet: Specially made for those with trouble-prone skin, it contains peach and tea tree extracts to treat spots as well as minimize enlarged pores. This mask clarifies the skin and removes redness, leaving your complexion even, clear and healthy.
  • Sparkle-Me-Bright Brightening Lemon Lime Mask Sheet: Dull, tired complexions will really benefit when using this one thanks to a blast of vitamin C derived from lemon and lime extracts. This mask also contains green tea and niacinamide to revitalize and beat dark spots.

My thoughts:
I haven't tried all four variants yet but what I like about these masks is that the sheets are really thin. I don't really like those masks with thick sheets because I feel like they absorb a lot of essence. Haha. Speaking of essence, these sheet masks are ultra juicy because it contains 25 grams of essence. I put this on my face for 15 minutes and I love that my skin feels really refreshed and hydrated. What I don't quite like though is it gives a slight stinging feeling and it smelled like there was a lot of alcohol in it.

BHA Blackhead Blaster
The last product under the A'Bloom line is what got me the most excited about. The BHA Blackhead Blaster. Formulated with a mixture of BHA (derived from willow bark) and apricot seed powder, this offers you a painless and easy way of unclogging pores.

What it claims:
  • No pain blackhead and whitehead removal
  • Melts away impurities and prevents future breakouts
  • Purifies and clarifies pores instantly
  • Contains charcoal and tea tree extracts to help detoxify and control excess sebum production

How to use:
  1. After cleansing your face, apply BHA Blackhead Blaster all over your face or on to the targeted areas with excessive sebum.
  2. Gently massage in a circular motion to release trapped oil and dirt.
  3. Rinse off with lukewarm water after one minute.

My thoughts: To be honest, I was quite disappointed with this product. I thought that it can really help solve my top skin concerns: blackheads and whiteheads. I noticed that every time I wash it off, my whiteheads protrude as if they are about to pop out already. So what I did was I put on my nose pack to take those annoying whiteheads out and voila! The nose pack was able to pull out a lot of them. After I pulled out the nose pack, I noticed that my nose area was squeaky clean. So I guess this BHA Blackhead Blaster will not work when used alone. It becomes effective when followed up with a peeling mask or a nose pack.

Have you tried any of these A'Bloom products already? If not, shop it at Althea Korea now.
