How I Have Been Coping with the Community Quarantine Situation
It's been more than a month since the community quarantine has been implemented here in Cebu and I have been having mild anxiety attacks here and there ever since. This pandemic surely is mentally challenging for most of us. I have seen on social media a lot of ways on how people have been coping up with the current situation so I thought of sharing my own ways too. I'm pretty sure you've done most, if not all, of these things I have listed but here goes.

1. Watching movies and TV shows on Netflix

Of course, even before the implementation of the community quarantine, I have been binge-watching a lot of movies and TV shows on Netflix. But these past weeks, Netflix has been more than just a pastime for me and has been more of one way I cope with everything that's going on. I saved a lot of movies and shows on My List and I have been ticking them off one-by-one. Haha.

2. Reading books

There are times I don't feel like watching anything on Netflix so I checked our shelf and found two of the books that I bought from Big Bad Wolf last year. The last time I read a book was months ago but when I finished reading both in a week, I wanted to read more. I wanted to re-read Sidney Sheldon's books and found them on Scribd. And after conducting research on which reading app is the best, I decided to subscribe to Scribd and it's definitely one of the best decisions I have ever made. ~happy dance~

3. Dyeing my hair

I had my hair dyed last December 2019 and because I wasn't satisfied with the results, I had it dyed again last January 2020. Months have passed and my hair color was starting to fade and unfortunately, I can't have it retouched at the salon as of the moment. I was arranging my drawer when I found a spare DIY hair color and voila! I dyed my hair again and my hair looks vibrant again.

4. Working out

May 2019, I started with a no-rice diet. Results started to show around July 2019 and became more evident by the end of the year. This year, I swore to be more active because I just can't rely with the diet anymore. I started running and my friend, Nym, convinced and inspired me to join her in her Muay Thai sessions. Exercising felt so good so I promised myself I won't stop exercising. This wasn't about weight loss for me anymore. I want to be healthier, have a toned body, and gain full body strength.

But when the community quarantine pushed through, I became anxious. I wanted to continue running and doing Muay Thai. And then again, Nym, came to the rescue. She convinced me, yet again, to workout at home. I have been working out ever since the community quarantine started and it's also one of the best decisions I have ever made. Working out has not just helped me physically but mentally as well. It keeps my headspace clear and helps me cope with my anxiety attacks.

5. Spending time with Zayn

Now that I have been working from home, I am taking advantage of it by spending more time to spend with Zayn but not during working hours, of course. Haha. It feels good to at least make up for the times I have not been with him because I had to come in to the office five days a week.

How I Have Been Coping with the Community Quarantine Situation

I know we have different ways of coping up with everything that's going on and shaming people for not being "productive" during this time is just so insensitive and irresponsible. This is a very difficult time for everyone. And some of us are fortunate to enjoy these privileges while others are in desperate crisis. But please, let's not judge the good life of one and the tough life of the other. Let's all be understanding with one another and if you can, extend help in any way. We are all going through the same storm on different boats but you see, we are all just fighting to survive.
